The financial power of attorney document can be made “durable” (a durable financial power of attorney) by adding certain language that leaves the document in effect under specified terms.

If you do not choose financial power of attorney and become disabled, the state may assign a conservator, who takes charge of your financial affairs. The fees for the conservatorship may be paid out of your estate.
